Why Game Development

Game development is a creative process which is around more than 45 years. Today, it is a recognizable discipline that requires innovating and learning within a social context. This makes the profession more popular, where educational programs in game development and design showed significant growth not only in industry but also in academia.

The field of game studies offers a unique combination of industrial and academic experience that can be found rarely in other domains. Such a combination ensures that these studies foster social skills (e.g., collaboration, communication, innovation, etc.) However, only a few courses are offered at the university level that teach the fundamentals of game design and game thinking. To bridge this gap, a study of game design and development is vitally important to address this discrepancy and ultimately sharpen students' analytical and innovative skills.
